Ed Clements:
Ed has 23 years experience of implementing lean in both Service and Manufacturing in many sectors ranging from Forensic Science to heavy engineering. Prior to his current role Ed was a Lead Practitioner at The Manufacturing Institute and instrumental in the first regional BERR Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS). Before that Ed worked across Europe for the global consultancy company Kaizen® Institute.
Ed learnt about Lean Principles as Kaizen Manager at Automotive supplier Metallifacture Ltd when the company won General Motors Supplier of the year award for 6 years running. He is a contributor on the Lean Enterprise Masters degree at the University of Buckingham. In 1996 Ed was one of the first in the UK to gain a lean specific Masters degree with a thesis entitled “Kaizen, teamworking and manufacturing cells : a plan for implementation, designed for small to medium size companies” He also has a BEng (Hons) in Manufacturing Engineering from Nottingham University.
Philip Vaughan:
Phil has been a lean practitioner for the last 20 years with Kaizen® Institute, Improvement Partnerships and Team Integra. He is pragmatic and a born workshop facilitator getting the most out of any local work team. For 10 years before that he worked for 2 of the world’s largest first tier automotive companies, manufacturing, access control systems and interior trim. Latterly, Phil was responsible for supplier development activities for the European automotive operation. Prior to that role he was Quality Manager and successfully implemented the automotive quality system QS9000 and the environmental system ISO14001.
